The Moth Storytelling Workshop
Workshop series July 27, Aug. 2 & 10, 2-5:30 P.M., 410 E. 92nd St. The Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin is excited to partner with The Moth, a non-profit organization dedicated to the art of storytelling! Our collaboration with the Moth Community Education Program will offer a series of storytelling workshops for adult adoptees to craft their own personal stories relation to adoption. Each workshop will have one trained storytelling instructor, as well as volunteer story coaches, to individually guide each adoptee through the creative process of storytelling. The program will end with a special performance by the adoptees to share their final stories with their friends and families.

A Conversation about Search & Reunion: Exploring Connections to Birth Family
Aug. 6, 6-8:30 P.M., 410 E. 92nd St. During this supportive and informative discussion-based workshop, adoptees will have the chance to explore the emotionally difficult, yet rewarding journey of search and reunion. The workshop will begin with a panel of adoptees, adoptive parents, and birth parents who will share their experiences of searching and being in reunion. Following the panel, our adoption experts will guide discussion groups where you can share your own stories, struggles, and hopes in a safe space. All domestic and international adoptees in closed or open adoptions ages 15 and older, as well as adoptive parents, spouses, or other supportive loved ones are welcome to attend.
