Both spouses must be at least 30 yrs. old; couples ages 30 to 45 receive infants; those over 45 receive toddlers; those over 50 receive school-age children. Married. Prior divorces permitted. Limited # of singles may adopt. Families may have no more than 4 children at home. At least one parent must travel. Average stay is 10-14 days. From completion of dossier to referral, approx. 8-10 mos. $15,000-20,000
Russia
4,639 In 2004, 30% were under 1 at adoption time. 48% between 1 and 4 years. No age restrictions. Singles must be 16 yrs. older than child. Married couples or singles. Two trips required. Most regions require both parents to make 2nd trip, but one parent can make 1st trip. From completion of dossier to referral of a boy, 0-6 months; girl, 6-18 months. $18,000-25,000
Guatemala
3,783 Infants 0-2 yrs., some older; special needs children are available. Couples & singles; no age requirements. Married couples or single men or women. 1 brief (2 – 3 days) trip required. Escort possible. From completed dossier to referral of a boy, 0-4 mos.; girl, 6-10mos. $20,000-30,000
South Korea
1,630 Infants (generally 2-6 mos.); some older. Both spouses must be between the ages of 25-44. Married at least 3 years. No more than 1 divorce per spouse. No more than 4 children already in family. Parents may choose to travel to Korea or have the child escorted to the U.S. From completed dossier to referral of a boy, 5-6mos.; girl, 8-12mos. $16,000-20,000
Ukraine
821 handicapped children, children older than age 10, or siblings of adoptees. Both parents must be 18 yrs. of age & at least 15 yrs. older than adoptee Married couples & singles may adopt Both parents must travel to Ukraine. Kazakhstan
755 Generally, 6 mos. to 3 yrs. At least 16 years difference between unmarried parent & child. No marital status requirement. 30-45 days in country required; may be broken into 2 trips. From completed dossier to referral of a boy, 0-4mos.; girl, 6-12mos. $12,500-16,000
