Sally Wildman, a member of the Academy of Adoption & Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, has represented adopting parents in all types of adoptions used in Illinois practice. While Chair of the American Bar Association Adoption Committee (1991-1992), she initiated a bar association resolution urging Congress to enact benefits for adoptive families. A key benefit enacted, federal adoption tax credit, is available to many families. Ms. Wildman participates in ongoing review and update of Illinois Adoption laws through Chicago Bar Association Adoption Law Committee.

In addition to representing adopting parents, Ms. Wildman currently assists adult adopted persons who search for biological family. Access to birth family information has expanded for adopted adultes. Illinois law created an Adoption Registry allowing adopted adults and their birth families to share family and updated medical information. A growing trend in other states, adopted adults born in Illinois can apply for a copy of their original birth certificate by request to Illinois Department of Public Health.
