The 18th annual “A Home for the Holidays” television special showcases stories of families formed through U.S. foster adoption and children waiting in foster care, along with musical performances. This year’s celebrity guest stars include Miranda Lambert, Rachel Platten, and Alessia Cara.

One of the mothers who will be featured in this year’s special, Lisa Christensen, recalls how their plans changed after learning that a sibling group would soon be separated in care. Instead of adopting one child, they adopted all three. “Their background was heartbreaking, and we couldn’t let them lose each other,” says the Los Angeles mom.

“A Home for the Holidays” will broadcast on Friday, December 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Tune in or set your DVR!
